We visited Kanazawa for the first time in the spring of 2025, and it was love at first sight. With noticeably fewer crowds than Kyoto, we had the chance to explore the city at a relaxed pace. While Kyoto remains a favorite, it can feel overwhelming during peak seasons. Kanazawa offers a compelling alternative, with beautifully preserved neighborhoods that reflect its Edo-period heritage. Its historic geisha and samurai districts are among the city’s most iconic highlights.
