There is currently an exponential growth in the development of MOFs for a wide variety of mixture separations of industrial interest. In most publications, the suitability of the MOF for any specified separation task is verified using transient breakthrough experiments. The comparison and screening of MOFs from breakthrough experimental data from different laboratories is challenging because of wide variation in the breakthrough apparatus dimensions, flow rates, mass of adsorbent samples. I address the question of the proper presentation of breakthrough data for easier comparisons of different MOFs. I also present a simplified analysis of breakthrough experiments that allows calculations of the productivities of purified product in the adsorption cycle.
