Teramachi is the high density area of temples.
Many temples were assembled when Osaka Castle was built
in the 16th century.
After the Osaka Siege, the current temple town was formed.
Teramachi had the function of defending Osaka Castle.
Most of the temples in this area are small.
This area is slightly higher than the surrounding city area
and is called Uemachi Plateau.
Shita-Teramachi is close to Shitennoji Temple,
so we recommend visiting it at the same time.
