Two railtours were in running in the north east of England earlier today.
Firstly, the Railway Touring Company's "The Edinburgh Flyer" between York and Edinburgh. This train, operated by West Coast Railways, was hauled by LMS 46115 Scots Guardsman with 47804 assisting at the rear. We see the train heading north across Durham Viaduct before calling briefly at Durham and continuing its journey to the Scottish capital.
A short time later Midland Pullman's "The Whitby Jet" headed south through Durham. This train, operated by Locomotive Services Limited, was heading from Dundee to Whitby. The immaculate sky blue HST set consisted of locomotives 43059 (leading) and 43046 "Geoff Drury 1930-1999" (trailing), with seven mark 3 coaches.
Later in the day I headed to Dinsdale to see the reverse working of "The Whitby Jet".
I then headed back for Alnmouth, where I saw the return working of "The Edinburgh Flyer".
Filmed on 25th March 2023.
