Описание: An Open Rails video of a Cargill train of Dried Distiller's Grain, a byproduct of ethanol production. Cargill runs these trains on the BNSF southern transcon between their ethanol production facilities and cattle feed facilities. After the ethanol is extracted, the wet corn remnants are loaded into specialized re-purposed bethgons with tarp covers. These shipments move between ethanol facilities in Iowa and Illinois (Eddyville IA being a prominent one) and Cargill's Sweet Bran facilities in Dalhart or Bovina TX. The product inside the railcars has a shelf life of roughly 12 days. These trains also usually carry 2 to 5 tank cars of steep water, also a byproduct of ethanol production, which is needed to help cleanly empty the bethgons at their destination. Attempts to use traditional covered hoppers failed because the inability of the quasi-wet product inside to empty sufficiently.
