Teaching needs to be active and based on concrete real-world examples. However, statistics education is often passive and abstract: showing students many long equations, then on later giving some worked examples. I present an ongoing study about whether we can improve statistics education by starting with examples, and showing the equations last.
This video is a conference presentation, presented at the University of Nottingham's Teaching and Learning Conference 2025.
