Looks like Bray Studios took on a contract with the Department of Agriculture to produce a cartoon to encourage ranchers to flea dip their cattle.
The short starts out on a light-hearted note with Mrs. Cow (who wears a skirt) reading a magazine under a tree. She is pestered by a tick and runs for her husband, the pants-wearing, pipe smoking Mr. Bull.
Things turn brutally ugly when they're attacked by a swarm of ticks and then DIE A SLOW DEATH!
Mrs. Tick then gives us a lesson in insect husbandry.
Turns out the hot spot for cattle deaths were Florida, Texas, and Louisiana.
I'm guessing the cows in Florida died of Key Lime disease!
