This film demonstrates the importance of geodetic terrestrial reference frames to science and society. The tremendous social benefits of long-term, stable, and accurate reference frames will continue to fuel innovative location-based applications – with all this based on data from four different but interconnected geodetic techniques (VLBI, SLR, GNSS und DORIS). The next time you use your smartphone for navigation, remember that your position is one point on a vast, international terrestrial reference frame, with Geodesy as your guide.
