thoughts-
*disclaimer: these switches were sent over by unikeys to try out, they did not review or have any input on the video or its contents. these thoughts are all my own.
SPECS / INTRO
the bsun maple sugar features a 3.6mm travel S3 pom blend stem (probably some upe added), pom top housing, modified nylon bottom housing and 62g long spring. these guys are meant to be super deep and poppy, can say from now they are definitely that.
SOUND
definitely super deep and poppy, it literally sounds like a foamy build. if you were looking for a foamy sounding switch without having to use foam I guess these would be very good in that case. there is a bit of ticking, though not terrible its still there and I did find it noticeable. would say about the same as canglan v3. the pitch is definitely deep here but some other common and popular switches are also similarly deep, most of the switches I included in the comparison were a fairly similar pitch with maybe the serenes being the highest. even though these are deep, they are still relatively loud though. if you wanted a deep and also quietist switch the canglan v3 or ash would be better there. there is also a tiny bit of scratch but its kinda inconsistent, some switches noticeably have it where some dont. cant really hear it while typing though.
QUALITY / FEEL
quality is pretty good on these, the lube is pretty moderate but they dont feel sluggish or mushy. the only problem with these I had was the ticking. I didn't really expect it since it was listed as a pom blend stem, but im guessing there is some upe added. not terrible but still noticeable. the weight on these is pretty heavy too. forgot about the weight when I was first trying them out and thought they were just sluggish and had some binding issues XD. if you like a lighter switch these might not be for you unless you dont mind swapping the springs. definitely too heavy for me, got used to all the lighter switches.
FINAL THOUGHTS
overall, these are as advertised. super deep and poppy sound that should do very well on foamy builds. if you dont like foamy sounding builds though these are probably a pass, it sounds foamy with zero foam XD. I kinda like this thocky sound every once in a while though, it's nice to get the sound without having to go in and add foam so thats pretty cool. although you can get a similar sound from the deeper keygeek switches too like the y3 or ash and without any of the ticking noise that the maple sugar have. they are also considerably less expensive. they do have a rounded pole tip though so the feel won't be as sharp, if you prefer the sharper bottom out feel these could be a good alternative.
thanks for stopping by and I hope you found the video and review helpful! 💙
