CALOW: North East Derbyshire Parish #1 of 24

Описание: Welcome to NORTH EAST DERBYSHIRE!

This is our second parish within the boundaries of Derbyshire that the channel has covered, and today we start a brand new district. North East Derbyshire. This is 24 parishes big, surrounding on three sides the town of Chesterfield. We begin in the South East with one that is classed more as a suburb than a village.

One of the most interesting things that this one has to offer comes in the form of the gigantic substation to be found to the village's South in an area known as Cock Alley. Interestingly it's connected to another one in Rotherham and another one in Nottinghamshire!

The village has as a population of about 2,400 people and sports a massive Anglican church that stands next door to the Royal Hospital which interestingly does not fall within the boundaries. In the far North Eastern corner there's a field which has an exposed pipe down, known as the Pipe Field for obvious reasons although it's more colloquially known as the pipey.

There are several quirks on offer all around this place, for example Eastwood Park which is three acres of land that was donated by Alderman Eastwood in 1919 for use as a recreation ground to remember the fallen in WWI. There are two pubs - The White Hart and The Anvil, and watch out along the A632 between Chesterfield and Bolsover for all those speed cameras!
