A new cyclonic circulation is expected to enter the North Andaman Sea region around September 30th, which will likely lead to the formation of this low-pressure area over the north adjoining central Bay of Bengal. This raises concerns about continued rainfall during the Dussehra festival. The Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rain across the state from October 1st due to this system. Meanwhile, the current depression over the central Bay of Bengal remains active over interior and south interior Odisha, expected to weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area in the next 24 hours, bringing another 24 hours of heavy rainfall. A yellow warning for thunderstorms and rain has been issued for the entire Odisha for the next 24 hours, specifically for Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri districts. Additionally, light to moderate rain is expected in some parts of the state tomorrow, with a yellow warning for thunderstorms and rain for coastal Odisha districts including Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Balasore. The department has also warned of heavy rainfall in four southern Odisha districts from the 1st due to the new low-pressure system. In the last 24 hours, most parts of the state received rain, with 24 stations recording heavy rainfall, and Bolangir's Salebhata recording the highest at 123.2 mm.
