Io Saturnalia! - Visiting the Roman Winter Solstice festival

Описание: Io Saturnalia everyone! Since it is that time of the year – we join the Romans in their famous holiday, the Saturnalia. It was a feast held in the honour of the god Saturnus – that at winter solstice returned as king of the world. The feast had many aspects that, especially, for a short time, relaxed and overturned the rigid social structures of Roman society. It was widely popular at all levels of Roman society.

Ancient History makes illustrated short documentaries about the history of the ancient world – from the beginning of civilization to the fall of western Rome. (However, I don’t guarantee that I won’t do some excursions to the Byzantines and other intriguing aspects.)
