The result is a six-minute instrumental journey that merges the introspective atmosphere of the rock classic with the intensity and technical flair of thrash metal.

Originally released in 1976 on the Eagles’ album Hotel California, the title track became one of the most recognizable songs in rock history. Written by Don Felder, Don Henley, and Glenn Frey, it’s famous for its mysterious lyrics, hypnotic groove, and the unforgettable dual guitar solo that closes the song.

Tornado of Souls, released in 1990 on Megadeth’s Rust in Peace, represents a very different kind of guitar legend. Written by Dave Mustaine and featuring Marty Friedman’s widely celebrated solo, the track has become one of thrash metal’s most revered compositions thanks to its melodic complexity and explosive lead work.

These two songs have crossed paths before in mashup form—usually through clever edits that swap or layer the famous guitar solos. This version takes the concept a step further, building a full six-minute arrangement, weaving the structures of both songs together from start to finish. The full arrangement was composed manually (modern tools were used, just not for the compositional choices).

Guitars remain central to the sound, carrying the weight and aggression of the metal side of the mashup, while layers of darksynth atmosphere and chiptune-inspired synth leads add a retro-digital edge. The result is a strange but natural collision of styles—classic rock mood, thrash metal precision, and pixelated synth textures all locked into the same groove.
