In Part 1, the focus was on the inside—shaping the core and locking in the form.
This time, the decision was clear: the exterior needed a hand-carved identity.
I started with a precision rotary tool, choosing the right burr and building a repeating pattern around the bowl until the design became continuous and unified.
After a light sanding to soften the edges, I introduced controlled fire—just enough to deepen contrast and pull the grain forward.
The surface was cleaned.
Then the final step: finishing oil.
That’s when the Walnut came alive—warm, textured, and grounded.
The form is complete. The process is honest.
