What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna be checking out the Konig CG-9. These are gonna be tire chains on our 2022 Tesla Model 3. These chains are gonna be a good all around option for your Tesla with the diamond pattern and square links on there. They're good with start and stops and turning. The diamond pattern comes from the pattern that is here on the chains and that's just gonna be more coverage overall.
So instead of just the chains that go ladder style, these have more coverage. So that's really gonna help you get that grip and help these d-links here break down into the ice and help you get traction. Another cool thing about it is it's got the built in tensioner. So that means it's not a separate piece that you have to remember. Sometimes you have the rubber adjusters you can put on there, but those are always separate and you gotta figure out where those are.
This is all contained in one system, so when you pull it out to use it, you know you got everything you need. The chains on the tire are gonna be a manganese nickel alloy and then around this portion that you'll be using to put them on, it's gonna have a coating on there, so it won't be as cold on your hands as these would. Now I suggest wearing gloves so you don't have to worry about it anyway. Also comes with a nice plastic case. I really like that part because some of the other tire chains come with is bags that they go in and those get shredded up pretty quickly.
I like that it's a plastic case and I know that I can just put these chains in there. It won't rip through this or damage it. Plus it keeps everything contained in one spot so they don't take up the back of your vehicle and I know exactly where they are gonna be when I need them. Now on the back side there's even a hook and loop, so then if you put it in the back of the vehicle it'll attach to that carpet and that's gonna keep it from sliding back and forth. One of the most important things for me with the chains is how easy they are to put on.
Well, these are really easy, check out how I did it. First thing you're wanna do is lay out your chains make sure no twists or brakes in them. Everything looks to be just fine here. Nothing's clipped where it's not supposed to be. Now what we're gonna do is actually, you see this divide here in the middle of the chains that's gonna be where the tire goes. We're gonna take this whole thing slide it back behind a tire and make our first connection. When slid around back, I grab both sides of the cable to bring it up behind the tire. It's gonna be difficult to see, but you see when it just slide this portion into the connector pull it all the way to where it snaps and that's in place, and then drape the chain over the front of the tire. We'll make our connection up front. We've got the red link that goes on the red hook, that's gonna help it not fall back and off of the tire. Then you can look at these things to make sure. So first you want the Konig logo facing out, and then you can also look at this portion here. You want the flat side against the tire. You don't want the teeth here digging into the tire. So then we'll make our next connection, be around here at the bottom. I'm gonna run this tensioner through the catch here. You can push back on that to get it started, goes in through the side, then pull it, you can hear it ratchet it and get tighter. Let's see if we can get a couple more on there. That looks like it pulled some of the tension out but we can get it a little bit more. That's gonna be better there, and we'll bring our hook down, and attach it to the tensioner. Now some last minute things to look at is the fitment. So just go around, make sure it's tight to the tire. It might be loose a little bit on the bottoms, but that'll be adjusted as you drive forward or backwards. Just don't drive on your driveway. This is only used in snow, but I would suggest practicing putting 'em on in your garage when it is a little bit warmer, so that when you have to do it in the snow, you can do it quickly. Overall, I like these chains. Super easy to put on there. I like the case that comes in. I can keep everything together. I don't, won't be out in the snow too long putting these on when I need them. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out. I hope this helped..
