🚨 Independence, MO Police Pursuit & Crash — January 30, 2025
A stolen silver Hyundai Accent spotted on US‑40 triggered a dangerous high‑speed pursuit through Independence, Missouri. Officer Kavadas attempted a traffic stop, but the driver — E’juan E. Brown — fled at extreme speeds, reaching 94 mph in a 35 mph residential zone.
The chase continued through multiple streets before Brown crossed into oncoming lanes at Truman & Sterling, running a red light and causing a head‑on collision with two vehicles.
Brown and a passenger fled on foot but were quickly apprehended. Inside the crashed Hyundai, officers found a woman and a 3‑year‑old child, both injured — the child was not in a car seat. Additional victims from the struck vehicles were transported to the hospital for evaluation.
During a post‑arrest DRE evaluation, Brown admitted to smoking marijuana an hour before the pursuit and acknowledged fleeing because the vehicle was stolen. He later claimed he “didn’t know” the car was stolen despite obvious damage to the steering column.
