Jog Falls is a waterfall on the Sharavati river located in Siddapur taluk of Uttara Kannada district and its view point in Kargal town of Shimoga district, Karnataka, India. It is the second highest plunge waterfall in India (after Nohkalikai Falls in Meghalaya). It is a segmented waterfall which depends on rain and season to become a plunge waterfall. The falls are major attractions for tourists and is ranked 36th in the list of free-falling waterfalls, 490th in the world by list of waterfalls by total height, 128th in the list of single-drop waterfalls in the World by the waterfall database.


📍 How to Reach Jog Falls

From Hyderabad (∼740 km):

🚆 By Train: Catch a train on the Secunderabad–Yesvantpur line to Shimoga Town (SMET). From Shimoga, take a state bus or taxi (∼100 km) to Sagara Road → Jog Falls.
🚍 .By Bus: Direct overnight Volvo/AC buses run from Hyderabad to Sagara. From Sagara, local buses or autos to Jog Falls (∼25 km).

From Bengaluru (∼400 km):

🚆 By Train: Take a train from Yesvantpur Junction (YPR) to Talaguppa (closest station, ∼12 km). From Talaguppa, shared taxis or autos to Jog Falls.
🚍 By Bus: Regular KSRTC Volvo and non‑AC buses ply between Bengaluru and Sagara. Then a short local bus/auto ride up to the falls.

From Murudeshwar (∼280 km):

🚍 By Bus: Private and KSRTC buses to Honnavar → change to a Sagar‑bound bus, then onto Jog Falls.
🚆 By Train + Bus: Murudeshwar → Kumta (train) → Hubli‑Goa Express to Talaguppa → auto to falls.

From Gokarna (∼320 km):

🚍 By Bus: Gokarna → Kumta → Sagar → Jog Falls (a combination of private and KSRTC).
