The Hi Rider with room for a Hobbit

Описание: This is the commando 750 hi-rider, there’s not many of these around the world, in fact only about 50 or so of them where ever sold before the rest where converted into roadsters to get them sold.

It has a 9 litre tank with a huge one man one hobbit seat with the sissy bar on the back, it’s fantastically finished off with the ape hanger handlebars.

This particular bike was brought in for quite a lot of work. This included :

entirely new isolastics,
A new clutch
New tyres
New Carbs
A Full Oil Service
Repair and replacing of the front and rear wheel bearings and brake shoes amongst many other jobs.

The tank needed to be sealed and repaired. We also fitted a tri spark ignition kit along with an Alton electric start kit.

The owner had also mentioned the engine had previously suddenly stopped out on a ride

Once the prior work was completed the diagnosis after a short test run up of the engine and monitoring various components our findings resulted the oil flow rate oil pump had a failure this in turn seized the pistons on the customers ride. 

We stripped the timing case off, this clarified that the oil pump had gone through a huge amount of pain and torture it must have picked some foreign objects at some point and with very blackened oil around the timing side had excessive heat cycles 

Our work then was set for a complete flush replace and rebuild. When sizing everything we discovered a discrepancy in the cylinder sizes which we then had them rebored to equal sizing and with new pistons perfect clearances made the engine like new again a complete set of seals gaskets bearings cleaning cleaning and more cleaning has made this 750 like new on the inside but still keeping the character and patina of this great little bike

The customer has had the bike back and after a pleasant phone call from him last week to say the High rider is running lovely and he has put a few very enjoyable hundred miles on it already.
