1. Apply for Vicarious class application:
Go to www.socinet.go.kr
Go to your "My Page" on your KIIP Socinet student account.
Translate page to English by clicking American flag.
Look for buttons "Vicarious class application" and "Deputizing attendance application"

Print your ticket afterwards by clicking on "Examination Ticket." Click “응시표” to print your ticket.

2. When will my testing site be confirmed?
About 2-3 days before the test. On the week of the test, make sure you regularly check the KIIP website to see updates.

3. What do you bring to the test?
-Your ARC
-Your Test ticket (printed); Online version will not be accepted
-Writing materials (pens, whiteout)

Non-required but recommended:
-A book to pass the time
-Snacks (kimbab, chips, water, etc.) if you didn't get lunch

4. What map service/app do you recommend?
-Kakao maps or Naver map (both have English now)

5. How long will the test last?
Depends on the groups you're put into according to your birthdate and also your time of application. If you applied later, you will be slotted into groups that will take the oral exam later than everyone else that applied earlier than you.

6. What's on the Written Test? And Oral Test?
Written Test: 50 questions (50 minutes); 48 multiple choice and 2 fill-the-blanks

Each question is worth 1.5 points each (total: 75 points)

Oral: 5 questions; read out loud passage and answer questions; Last two questions are more advanced and deal with Korean culture, society, education, economy, etc.

Each question is worth 5 points (total: 25 points)

7. What's the grading scale?
Add up your written and oral test and check what you get:

LEVEL 1 = 3-20/100
LEVEL 2 = 21/100
LEVEL 3 = 41/100
LEVEL 4 = 61/100
LEVEL 5 = 81/100

8. What if I can't speak Korean? Or what if I don't understand the question being asked on the oral exam?

Rather than not say anything, you can say "죄송합니다 저는 잘 모르겠습니다"
Choeseonghamnia choneun jal moreuketsumnida (I am sorry. I don't know.)

9. When do I get my test results?
1-2 weeks after you take the placement test. Check online on the KIIP site.
