Neglect of Border Area Sparks Farmers’ Protest in Bargarh’s Jharbandh Block

Описание: Anger is mounting among farmers in the Jharbandh block of Padmapur subdivision, Bargarh district, as hundreds of farmers staged a protest in front of the Jharbandh Tehsil Office. Under the leadership of Ashok Kumar Sahu, convenor of the Jharbandh Regional Farmers’ Organisation, farmers raised eight major demands by performing kirtan and gheraoing the office.

The protesters alleged that the border area block is being neglected administratively. Farmers dependent on rain-fed Kharif cultivation complained that the government has failed to procure paddy, forcing them to sell their produce at distress prices.

They also highlighted issues like inadequate power supply for agriculture and delays in deep borewell excavation despite payment of government fees. Demanding immediate intervention, the farmers submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, seeking resolution of their long-pending issues.
