I want to start by saying that although I have been attending kirtans and practicing yoga for many many years, I didn’t know Swami Sivananda. I only found out about him when I visited his temple in Rishikesh during my Yoga Teacher Training. Days later, I made friends with a local yogi while we were bathing in the Ganga River. Our souls collided, and he became my teacher. He showed me the cave where he used to meditate. He told me stories of miracles and many blessings he received from God. One day, while we were walking, I asked him to share a song/mantra/prayer with me. It was Twameva. He taught me how to sing it, and we sang together all the way going back to the village, escaping the monkeys, drinking sugar cane juice, talking with locals, feeling the summer heat in air.. I recorded an audio of us on my phone, I will never forget it..

After this magical day, I started to sing it almost every day. I found this Sivananda kirtan version on YouTube, and this exact song kept me company every day for months, since May, since our encounter. The month of my birthday, the month when everything kind of changed inside of me, another level of awakening that took place in India. The translation of this song is everything to me. I cried so many times listening to it, because it expresses exactly how I feel about God, but in words I could never find myself.

God is my everything, my father, my mother, my brother, my sister, my best friend.

Although life is hard sometimes, when I feel alone and so far away from my family, I remember that I am actually never alone. God is with me all the time.

Today, I share this morning satsang with you.
Opening with Ganesha and all the Goddesses and Gods.. amazing tune that I found later and also became my daily prayer.. Then Twameva and to end Hari booooo so we can shake everything off...
