Kirin, the mythical elder dragon from Monster Hunter World (and past publications of the game), has never had his own theme! It was mentioned in a comment by Stephen Delarosa, who then requested that I create one of my own.
Kirin is more than worthy of having his own music.
I started thinking of doing the piece in 6/8 to get that galloping feel throughout the whole track. I feel like the unicorn is often associated to the Celts (it is, after all, Scotland's national animal), but Kirin is a Chinese mythological creature (though it appears in various Asian folklore). So I put a pinch of Celtic, a dash of Japanese and Chinese into this 6/8 groove and stirred. I wanted the music to be light, beautiful and mystical while pushing forward. There are a few zaps and effects to reference Kirin's power over the storms too.
I had a LOT of fun making this, it conjured itself over the weekend. Enjoy!
