First introduced in the late 1920s, Doctor's Watches were a once-popular subcategory of timepiece designed to help doctors and nurses more accurately measure a patient's pulse. In the 1930s and 40s, they were as recognizable a badge of the medical profession as a stethoscope. While the traditional rectangular form is rarely seen today, more sophisticated forms of doctors' watches known as a Pulsometers are still in widespread use.
