TV Batman, Adam West, lived in this Palm Springs estate in Old Las Palmas

Built in 1954, this residence was once home to actor Adam West, famed for his role as Batman on the TV show that aired in the late 1960s.

Renowned architect Albert Frey renovated the property, infusing it with his signature desert modernist touch. If you are not familiar with Albert Frey, he designed the Palm Springs City Hall, the Palm Springs Visitor Center and the Aluminaire House which is now on permanent display at the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Inside The Wests House, Frey's influence is evident in the open floor plan and use of natural materials. The living areas are bathed in natural light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows that offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

The West House was recently brought up to date and revitalized by Michelle Boudreau Design. It has retained its midcentury charm and added many modern amenities as you see in the video.

As with many other homes in Palm Springs that were previously associated with famous people, the true architectural value and historical significance far outweighs the celebrity connection.

ABOUT ADAM WEST
West began his career in Hawaii, hosting a children’s show before moving to Hollywood in the 1950s. Before landing Batman, he appeared in various TV shows and films.

Batman (1966-1968) turned West into a household name, but it also typecast him, making it difficult for him to find other serious roles after the show ended. He embraced his cult status, making guest appearances in TV shows, commercials, and conventions. Over time, he became a beloved pop culture figure, often voicing Batman in animated adaptations.

West made numerous appearances in Batman-related media, including Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (2016). Adam West received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012 before passing from leukemia.in 2017 at the age of 88.

Fans and celebrities honored his legacy, with Los Angeles projecting the Bat-Signal onto City Hall in tribute.

This home is located at 296 W Hermosa Place in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood of Palm Springs. It sits between Palm Canyon Dr and the mountains within walking distance to many of the restaurants in the Palm Springs Uptown Design district and in the northern reaches of downtown.

The Old Las Palmas neighborhood is one of the most exclusive in Palm Springs. Over the years many celebrities have lived in Old Las Palmas or nearby in Vista Las Palmas. The famous Wexler designed Dinah Shore house - now owned by Leonardo DiCaprio is just down the block a few doors away.

The West house last sold in 2023 for $3,515,000 and based on the pictures of the property at that time, a lot of work has been done and today it would sell for a lot more.

The West House is 3,189 Sq Ft and sits on an 11,326 Sq Ft lot with great mountain views. The house is oriented towards a southern and west exposure.

There are three bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The primary bedroom is quite unique and is a 1200 Sq Ft suite with a large sitting area that has a fireplace and a view of the pool.
