Often we promote skilled employees into manager roles because they are hard working, conscientious and get lots done. BUT and it is a big BUT how are they supported and developed to enable their team members to be effective. Often these newly appointed managers just do more and work longer hours.

We need to help them transition and become a successful manager after being a great team member and technically competent. Most skilled people have very little management knowledge the first time they accept a management role. They are learning new skills and taking on responsibilities that they have not had to consider before. Help train them with dedicated manager coaching and training courses with on going support and help.
