Описание: Kite is the first single from the new collaboration album by Mishra and Deepa Shakthi, Turn O Spinning Wheel, out 17th October 2025.

The piece began as an instrumental written by Ford on low whistle, which when Deepa heard it conjured an image of a soaring Kite. The track became a hypnotic trade between melodies that draw structurally from an Irish jig and harmonically from Ethiopian jazz, and soaring vocal responses from Deepa, Kate and Alex.

The collaboration between Mishra and Shakthi began following a commission from arts organisation zerOclassikal and a UK tour in 2023, during which they continued to develop new material. A vibrant amalgam of folk influences from around the UK and India, Turn O Spinning Wheel sets out to reimagine the boundaries of UK folk music using Indian classical rhythmic and melodic concepts. It features new arrangements of classic qawwali, punjabi folk, and traditional English songs as well as new compositions that highlight dialogues of contemporary female experience between the group's lead singers, Griffin and Shakthi.
