Amongst the church, bells and ringers: Bedford, St Andrews

Описание: Situated a short 20 minute walk north east of Bedford station, a rather old and somewhat characterful light ring of 8 is based, the sixth being cast circa 1510, where we scored a predominantly well rung quarter of Plain Bob Major. Ignore the the typo on the title page... Bedfordshire

The church immediately inside bears resemblance to a primary school environment, the smells evoking that of a school hall. Venturing to the ringing room, the essence of visiting someone's living room and kitchen is felt, adding to some character

Inside the ringing room, they sounded rather thuddy at first and it took us several minutes to settle a good pace and accustom to some of the oddstruckness. Hopefully the video has brought them out well however. Nonetheless, they would make an good venue for a striking competition as they are crystal clear in the ringing room, light around the front, a decent draft, oddstruck and the pace needs to be just right to achieve positive ringing.
