Oftentimes, people don't have the money to survive, so they have to figure out a way to do it. You can receive money from people as long as it's a gift or for example, rent is also a consideration as well. But it gets tricky when you get to the SSI area because there's almost a dollar-for-dollar set off for the money that you get from somebody else against the SSI that you may receive from the government.

For example, if somebody is allowing you to live with enough with an eye towards getting paid, when you get paid, you have to write that up as either rent or a loan, because if you don't and don't do that beforehand for SSI, you could be denied a great portion of your payment because you have been accepting money from somebody, and they will consider that and offset it by the amount of SSI you're due. For SSDI it really doesn't matter. You could be Donald Trump and still get it.
