The heart of fasting is not earning power or manipulating God, but learning to deny ourselves, examine our motives, and realign our lives around dependence on Him. Scripture shows that unanswered prayers are often tied not to God’s absence, but to misplaced desires—seeking comfort, pleasure, or relief instead of surrender and obedience. Fasting trains us in self-control, exposes the things we rely on for comfort, and creates space for God to recalibrate our hearts. It is a marker of maturity and a posture of humility that says, “Lord, I cannot do this without You.” God gives grace to the humble, and He meets those who sincerely seek Him with repentance, obedience, and hunger.
