Lots of inventory and mediocre sales volumes have made for a slow start to the 2nd busiest time of the year for real estate. On a month over month basis, prices have held up well, but are mostly down relative to last September.

Opportunity awaits the savvy buyer. Sub par homes will not sell and even quality properties are facing increased pressure for reluctant buyers. Getting pre-approved is a great first step if you want to go house hunting. On that note, there are hundreds of open houses this weekend.

I close out the segment with a prediction that the slowness will continue. Sellers may want to wait until the spring before listing. Our market is starting to favour buyers more and more.
