Описание: Local environmentalists are concerned that the province could use Bill 60 to privatize Waterloo Region's problematic water supply system. No one at this point has any reason to think this will happen, but the legislation Doug Ford passed in November does make this a possibility.

Our water issues are causing a lot of concern in the local building community. Several spokespeople are worried about financial damage and layoffs if more supply is not added. Some are calling for the ban on new water connections to be lifted.

On a positive note, Kitchener's mayor, Berry Vrbanovic, tabled a motion to guarantee 50% of new supply over the next 5 years to existing projects that are well underway. Builders are hoping this provides them a bit of a buffer so their crews can keep working.

Our January market data is explored too. Rising inventory levels are impacting prices to the downside, with the condo market most impacted.
