(3 Jun 2017) Hundreds of Chileans took to the streets of Santiago on Saturday demanding that marijuana be legalized.
The thirteenth annual "Grow your rights" demonstration drew ardent marijuana growing fans from across the region.
Cakes and pastries baked with marijuana in them were a favorite feature at this year's demonstration with cake stands set up by a number of enterprising marijuana legalization backers.
Planting, selling and transporting marijuana is illegal in Chile and carries prison terms of up to 15 years.
The law, however, allows medical use of marijuana.
Protesters were also demanding that the Chilean government legalise the recreational use of marijuana, an act that many took a particularly personal interest in exhibiting throughout the event.
