Описание: We think of the selfie as evidence of today’s narcissistic, disconnected and individualistic culture. But what if it were otherwise? What if the selfie were the new, raw currency of intimacy, presence and connection? What if that were the reason why the selfie plays such a prominent role in presidential races? What if its connection to the everyday life of ordinary people were the reason for its ubiquity in protests and politics? The author of four award winning books and curator of numerous film festivals, retrospectives and art shows in Durham, London, and New York, Negar Mottahedeh teaches in the Program in Literature at Duke University. A perceptive theorist of visual culture and the Middle East, Professor Mottahedeh writes and speaks about culture, innovation and digital technologies.
