Taras Ivanina is the Employment and Partnerships Lead with the Avalon Branch of the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada. Originally trained as an environmental engineer in Ukraine, Taras has built his career in Canada around employment support, community integration, and sustainable business development.
Beyond employment, Taras is engaged in agriculture and food security projects to support collaborations between Ukrainian farmers and local businesses. These initiatives include sustainable farming, food processing, and the development of social enterprises that generate both jobs and community benefit.
The 2025 NL Young Farmers Leadership Summit was hosted from October 17-18 in Clarenville at the Clarenville Inn and sponsored by Harvey & Company, Farm Credit Canada, NL Kubota, and the Town of Clarenville.
NL Young Farmers is funded by the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP), a five-year (2023-2028), $3.5-billion investment by federal, provincial, and territorial governments to strengthen the competitiveness, innovation, and resiliency of Canada’s agriculture, agri‐food, and agri‐based products sector. This includes $1 billion in federal programs and activities, and a $2.5-billion commitment that is cost-shared 60 per cent federally and 40 per cent provincially/territorially for programs that are designed and delivered by provinces and territories. Sustainable CAP provides $230,000 annually to support NL Young Farmers activities in Newfoundland and Labrador.
