Join me for a peaceful walk around Whitemoor Pond Inclosure, a quieter and lesser-visited part of the New Forest characterised by mature woodland, winding forest tracks, and a calm, enclosed atmosphere.

Although the area is named after Whitemoor Pond, this particular route focuses on the surrounding woodland rather than the water itself. The inclosure contains a mix of broadleaf and conifer trees, with soft forest paths underfoot and filtered light breaking through the canopy. It’s a place where the sounds of the wider Forest feel distant, replaced by birdsong, rustling leaves, and the steady rhythm of walking.

Like many inclosures in the New Forest, this area reflects the Forest’s long history of woodland management, where forestry and traditional commoning have shaped the landscape over generations. Today, it offers a peaceful environment to experience the quieter side of the Forest away from the more open heathlands.

This is a gentle, unhurried woodland walk — ideal for anyone who enjoys shaded trails, natural textures, and a slower pace surrounded by trees.
