Perching is one of the main functions of the foot (grabbing, pulling, perching, etc..) that we rarely get to express living in a modern world on flat ground. Perching is something we use to climb, balance, stand, and grip the ground or objects beneath our feet especially on an elevated surface. When we wear shoes we lose some of this ability and over time our feet can atrophy and lose muscular and neurological capability without this input. This video describes the act of "perching" and how you can include it back into your life with common fitness objects found in most gyms.
This can be a huge fix for collapsed arches, flat feet, and fixing other issues like strength, bunions, and even shin splints.
