Joel Fan gave the world premiere recording of Instants d'un Opéra de Pékin (Moments from a Peking Opera), on his album World Keys. Chinese composer Chen Qigang is a master at synthesizing the cultures of the East and West. Composed in 2000, this work uses traditional Chinese music and modern Western concepts to elaborate on a simple musical idea drawn from the music of the Peking (Beijing) Opera.
