North of Newcastle and on the coast lies Seaton Delaval Hall. Belonging to the Delaval family it was essentialy the Great Gatsby of Georgian England. With the greatest parties, the most extravagent excesses and the craziest pranks (keep an eye out for the room turned literally upside down).
Despite it's past of mischief and revelery it was also the site of misfortune. Including the fire 200 years ago which almost destroyed the hall. Despite everything the building survives to today and is an amazing place to visit in the north east.
The site is run by the national trust and has all the usual facilities you would expect. Including cafe, shop and toilets. The gardens and ground floors are all mostly accesable to everyone. However the higher rooms may be difficult to those with mobility issues.
