Описание: The real-time train information system (RTIS) is a satellite based system in Indian Railways for monitoring of train operation. The system is a collaboration between the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS), the information technology arm of the Ministry of Railways, and ISRO. It will provide train running information to the public through internet, SMS on mobile phones, call centres and through train indication boards at stations. Work is ongoing to replace the manual recording system with RTIS by connecting 8,000 trains and 8,177 stations across the country. Under the new system, Indian Railways has installed GPS aided geo-augmented navigation system based devices called GAGAN on locomotives to acquire train movement data. With the help of the new navigating system, Railways will be able track the real-time data of trains like arrival and departure and run-through timings at the stations in a particular route.
