Recently a video appeared on a Hindi YouTube channel that tried to explain why India chose Broad gauge over standard gauge for its railways. Unfortunately, the channel just spoke rubbish. For instance, according to the channel, one of the reasons India chose broad gauge over standard gauge was because the "high wind speeds of the subcontinent would blow the standard gauge rolling stock off the rails!". In this video, I attempt to clear such myths and misconceptions.
