Learning the letters in their own name is a meaningful way for children to begin their literacy journey! This playful matching activity helps children connect letters to their name while building confidence with print.
This activity supports important early literacy skills, including:

• Visual scanning and matching

Try This at Home or in the Classroom:
On one side of a journal page, write your child’s name going down the page in the correct order.
On the opposite side of the page, write the letters of your child’s name in a mixed-up order.
Invite your child to match each letter from their name to the correct letter on the other side of the page.
Tip: As your child matches each letter, say the letter name together. Older children can also practice saying the letter sound.
This simple, play-based activity is quick to set up and supports early literacy learning at home or in the classroom.
