Atezolizumab, an anti-PD-L1 monoclonal antibody, has shown efficacy in combination with standard chemotherapy in the first-line treatment of ES-SCLC. In terms of safety, both atezolizumab and durvalumab were generally well-tolerated. Common adverse events associated with these agents include fatigue, nausea, and decreased appetite. Immune-related adverse events, such as pneumonitis, hepatitis, colitis, and endocrinopathies, were also reported but were manageable with appropriate interventions.

It is crucial to remember that the decision to use these agents should be individualized, considering the patient's overall health status, comorbidities, and preferences. As always, the potential benefits should be weighed against the possible risks, and the decision should be made after a thorough discussion between the patient and their healthcare provider.
