Rishi Aggarwal, is a well regarded environmental and urban issues activist who has been closely involved with impacting a number of environmental issues in Mumbai. Mumbai has been his laboratory for shaping the future of urban planning and sustainability for Indian cities, and in this talk, Rishi shares how better lifestyles, sustainability levels and waste management can be achieved with our involvement. Rishi Aggarwal is a well regarded environmental and urban issues activist who has over more than 15 years been closely involved with impacting a number of environmental issues in Mumbai. Saving large tracts of mangrove forests at the turn of the century, being a voice for decentralised waste management, fighting for better walking infrastructure for pedestrians and championing for high quality public transport are just some of the issues he has been closely involved. He is a frequent commentator on these issues in media and helps shape public opinion.
With a long standing involvement in waste management Rishi supports various organisations, individuals and cities with developing methodologies for waste management. He has a keen interest in governance structures and their impact on the course of life of citizens.
In his words Mumbai has been his laboratory for shaping the future of urban planning and sustainability for Indian cities. It saddens him to see the poor supporting framework he has had to work in through the more youthful years of his life even as peers chose cushy risk averse options on the beaten path. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
