The Ganden Monastery, 50 km from Lhasa, is one of the largest buddhist monastries in Lhasa. It was founded by Tsongkhapa in 1409. It is situated in a stunning setting, on a ridge above the valley, at 4,300 m.a.s.l. (14,100 feet).
