From Bomê County to Rakwa Tso, one of the most beautiful sections of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway G318, we followed Palong Zangbo all the way eastward along the Highway until we reached its source: Upper Rakwa Tso.
Along the way, both sides of National Highway 318 are surrounded by snow peaks and glaciers with an elevation of 5,000 to 6,000 meters. Lower Rakwa Tso is located next to the Highway. It is called the Tears of Heaven, with an elevation of nearly 3,900 meters. Finally, we will drive towards Zayu and arrive at Upper Rakwa Tso Lake.
February to March every year is the most suitable season for sightseeing of Rakwa Tso. The lake water is clear and the snow-capped mountains are reflected. In summer, the water becomes turbid. (Our channel also filmed the scenery of Rakwa Tso in winter, welcome to check it out)
