In India, at least nine miners are trapped in a flooded coal mine in Assam's Dima Hasao district, about 200 kilometres south of Guwahati. The incident occurred Monday when water from a nearby unused mine surged into the site, leaving workers stranded 300 feet underground. Rescue operations are underway, with the army and disaster management teams deployed. Divers have reached depths of up to 40 feet in the mine, but the water level remains approximately 100 feet. Rescuers have so far recovered helmets, slippers, and other items from the site.
