I headed down to Shakespeare beach in Dover at 11.30 pm wondering if I was insane and if I should have stayed all warm and cosy in bed,
The prospect of reelin in 100's of dogfish and whiting played heavily on my mind.
But I had a feeling and a score and a half of black lug going bad in my fridge so....
I set up two rods, my 16ft continental style Vercelli with a 4/0 pulley Pennal a 6oz weight and frozen baits: squid, bluey, herring aimed at Rays
and a Shakespeare inigma 13ft beach caster with a 3 flapper rig size 1/0 hooks and black lugs,
I cast the the continental out as far as I could and experimented at different ranges on the 13ft rod.
It didn't take long before both rods sprang to life.
with fish from the off, both target species achieved and a spectacular sunrise I wasn't convinced I'm not insane.....
But I was glad I got out of bed!
