This one is for Marvine. We love you, Marvine!
Marvine has been subscribed to my channel for a while now. She is in her 80's and is not a musician, she just enjoys my videos and always leaves lovely comments. Over the years we've kept in touch with cards and letters... and even a phone call. Marvine has a number of age related health issues and she recently fell off the radar here. I finally got concerned enough to phone her last night and spoke to her son, Tom, who is her primary caregiver. Marvine is still with us, but just having serious mobility issues and her arthritis makes it unable for her to type anymore. She was doing dictation for a bit, but that had its own issues. I was able to speak to Marvine and we had a lovely chat. She still watches my videos on her smart-TV and I was so happy to hear that she is hanging in there. She asked about Lynn, so I put Lynn on the phone and they had a nice chat as well. So, if you would, please send your best to our friend Marvine.
'New Kid in Town' by The Eagles off of their "Hotel California" album which came out in 1976 and featured Randy Meisner on bass.
I'm not sure how long this one is going to be around. I recorded it back in March (2024) along with "I Can't Tell You Why" and they were immediately blocked, so I kept them as "Unlisted". I filed a dispute for "I Can't Tell You Why" right away and it got released. About a month ago I filed a dispute for this song and there was no response from the content owner after 30 day and it also got released. I have a strong feeling that after I publish this video (make it public) the block/strike hammer will come down hard and fast, but we sill see.
Remember a month or two ago, when a bunch of artists videos got taken down from YouTube? I woke up and was responding to comments... "Where is this Rush video?", "Where is that Rush video?", "Where are all of your Rush videos?" It was some enormous copyright dispute. RUSH, Nirvana, Alice in Chains and a number of other artists had all of their videos blocked, along with any covers (like mine). They even hit tribute band videos. I haven't done a Rush cover in years, but it got me thinking about how my whole catalog (163 Rush covers... 35, or so, of those are do-overs), that I spent years making, could get wiped out "just like that". They were only down for a few days before being resurrected. Anyway, when I got my new computer back in April, I was concerned about losing all of my videos in the migration, so I put all my videos on an external hard drive. As a backup, I even bought a 256 gig thumb drive and put them there as well. I was wondering if there would be any interest in purchasing my video catalog, in its entirety, or just the Rush covers? It was just a passing thought.
