Nostalgic lotus seed soup & desserts by a 50-year-old stall | Soon Heng Hot & Cold Desserts 顺兴清甜五味汤

Описание: Soon Heng Hot & Cold Desserts (顺兴清甜五味汤) has been selling desserts for over 50 years. It began as a street vendor in 1964, shifted to the former Tanglin Halt Food Centre and has settled at the new Margaret Drive Hawker Centre in August 2022.

The stall is known for its thick, caramel soup packed generously with soft, powdery lotus seeds (莲子羹). There are as many as 35 varieties offered here. It is no wonder that Mr and Mrs Yeo start their preparation as early as 4am in the wee hours to get the desserts ready by 6am for the early birds.

Be it on a cool or warm day, with the wide varieties offered, one is to find a sweet spot here. Other than the quintessential hot choices like red bean sago soup, Tau Suan, Bubur Hitam, there are also cold ones like Cheng Tng, Soursop Ice, and more. Keeping up with the trend, the couple also introduces new desserts. The latest being added to the menu is Roselle ice jelly, an ideal choice that chills one down.
