If referring to European period, To Manurung presence was in between the late medieval to the Renaissance. To Manurung did play an important role in ensuring the genealogy of the kingdoms in South Sulawesi. The memoir was a political myth that legitimized To Manurung's offspring in terms of royal heirs. This legitimacy existed through story about To Manurung emerged in such areas where the nobility delegates–Gallarang in Makassarese or Matowa in Buginese–wanted To Manurung to be king. He agreed to take the offer only upon condition: there would not be conflicts any further between small kingdoms and the nobility should obey his orders. For fairness' sake, To Manurung was asked to protect, nurture, and glorify siri' (honor) of the nobility and his people. Despite being considered as a myth, still, one of the major effects of the political contract was the emergence of a king figure in the 17th century who loved science: Karaeng Pattingalloang.
